Frequently Asked Questions

Kinda-Sorta Pet-Friendly

Concan and Andy's on River Road are all pet-friendly places to be. But the public crossings...aka access to the Frio River, tend to not be.

If you book one of our Riverside cabins, you are welcome to bring your dog, on lead, down to the water.

Here's how to avoid getting booted from Andy's when your dog is with you:
  • Dog is always with humans, never alone in cabins, rvs, tents, etc.
  • Dog is always on leash, not staked
  • You are on doody duty, no mess left behind
  • Dog is quiet, no matter the size
  • Dog is friendly, no matter the size
  • Dog is less than 50 lbs
  • Dog is worth paying $50 a night while in our cabins

Think long and hard about whether you want to bring your furry bestie, or if they would be happier at home or staying with a friend for the weekend.

Stop at the HEB in Ulvade for groceries

Concan doesn't have a grocery store that is going to be able to handle a big shop. At Andy's we carry river essentials...not nutritional essentials.

Need a bag of chips, some sunscreen, and a rad cooler? We gotcha.

Pantry and fresh food? Not so much.

Packing lists are KEY

Linens included in Cleaning Fee

The easiest way to keep all our cabins clean and tidy is to provide all guests with linens and beds made before you get here!

This includes:
Sheets, blankets, pillows and pillowcases for every bed. Towel and washcloth for every guest.
You will still need to bring your own towel to the River.

Cell Service Isn't  Great

AT&T does come through...a bit.

Once you enter Concan Country you get to enjoy being cut off from your digital life! Hooray!

That means that you should pick up a map or print one off with directions to everything that you want to do while you are in Concan.

We do have WiFi available at all our cabins, suites, RV sites, and in our store.

Concan is no longer a "Dry" city!

You're invited to Compadre's to pick up your favorite adult beverages and all the fun extras!

We carry beer, wine, spirits, mixers, salts, sodas, accessories and of course ice for your cooler.

Compadre's is located right next to Andy's on River Road.

Rules and Policies for Staying with Andy's on River Road.

We'd like to think that telling you to be the person your dog thinks you are would be enough...but to protect you and us, we have those rules spelled out right here:

Successful Floats on the Frio are Well Planned

Can I wear flip-flops?
We recommend that you bring good water shoes with you. The Frio has a rock, not a sand, bottom and you may need to stand up during your float. We do carry water shoes at our STORE. Or if you have some trashed sneakers that you don’t care about, those will work too.
Can I get a tan while floating?
You’re more likely to catch a sunburn and regret forgetting sunscreen for about two weeks than get a decent tan. Please bring sunscreen with you on your trip down the Frio and re-apply! Spray sunscreen works great when you are trapped on a tube.
How rough is the ride on the Frio?
It is usually a pretty tame.
BUT, Rivers are the most dangerous bodies of water. We recommend that anyone who comes along on a float is a strong swimmer. Every renter floats at their own risk.
Can I bring beer in my cooler?
Do you think that we would try to stop you?
That being said:
Please make sure that you have water in your cooler as well. You, passing out in the middle of nowhere Texas is no fun for you, the friends you are floating with, or us…who have to fish you out of the river and wrestle you onto a bus full of kids.

Also, NO GLASS is allowed on the river...or styrofoam.

Can I bring my phone to the Frio?
If you have a waterproof pouch and sling it around your tube (not your neck) you should be fine. But we have seen cameras and phones get smashed against rocks time and again. Besides…aren’t you here to get away from all that?
What do I do with my empties?
We have mesh yellow trash bags for each tuber to help keep our beautiful river clean for decades to come.
What can I NOT Bring?
You can be fined for bringing:
  • Glass
  • Styrofoam
We recommend not bringing
  • Jewelry (you too, my dudes)
  • Valuables
  • Watches
  • Phones
  • Cameras
Ab0ut Dogs

  • Judgement call on behalf of the shuttle driver...no one else
  • Must be kept on lead at all times
  • You are responsible for cleaning up after your dog.
My question isnt on here…
That’s okay! Call us at Call 830-232-5444 and we will be happy to answer any questions you have.

Be Safe.
Be Smart.
Don't trespass in Texas.

The banks of the Frio River are privately owned...by Texans...

We want you to be safe and that means you need to have a plan for your float.

Think ahead about:
  • Where are you getting in?
  • Where are you getting out?
  • How are you getting there?

Don't wanna have to think about this kind of stuff? That is what the shuttle service at Andy's on River Road is for.

You also need to bring with you:
Water, sunscreen, a hat, and protective footwear

DO NOT get out onto the banks of the Frio unless it is at a public crossing that is clearly marked on a map or it is an emergency...like a drowning emergency...not a bathroom emergency. Trespassing is taken very seriously.
